White sand, old mangroves and reefs a few fin-kicks from the shore, 1,300 kilometres out in the Bay of Bengal.
The Andamans are India's best-kept beach secret, mostly because getting there takes a little effort. That effort is exactly what keeps Radhanagar the kind of beach you remember.
We split time between Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) and Shaheed Dweep (Neil), with private ferry transfers and resorts set back in the forest rather than on the busiest stretch of sand.
Snorkelling here is excellent for beginners. For certified divers, we work with a small PADI centre whose instructors have been diving these reefs for over fifteen years.
(02)When to go
Seas are calmest and visibility best from December to March. Ferries can be cancelled in the May–September monsoon.
(03)Don't miss
Go for the late-afternoon light and stay until the sun drops behind the sea.
Shallow coral gardens, easy for first-time snorkellers.
A rock arch at low tide, with rock pools full of sea cucumbers and clownfish.
The ruins of the British settlement, slowly being reclaimed by banyan roots and deer.
