The Bali most people never find is ten minutes from the one they do. This journey stays away from the southern traffic: a villa above the Ayung river, the Sidemen valley and the lake temples of the highlands.
Your driver becomes your fixer. Through him you'll be invited to a temple ceremony in his family's village — dressed in sarong and sash, with offerings you'll have helped to make.
